im april 2016 verbrachte ich anlässlich einer ausstellung einige tage in rom. http://istitutosvizzero.taylormacklin.com/nohopenofear.html 
während dieses aufenthalts drehte ich einen einstündigen film, wobei mir pier paolo pasolinis romanfragment "petrolio" als zentraler referenzpunkt diente. "no hope, no fear, no front, no rear" (dt. titel: "die heilige arschuntersuchung") ist sowohl dokumentation der ausstellung als auch filmisches essay zum thema faschismus.

"In einer Zeit, in der sich die Grenzen des Vorstellbaren auflösen und die Menschheit mit noch nie erlebten Möglichkeiten konfrontiert wird, ist die Multidimensionalität ein entscheidender Faktor zeitgenössischer Plastik.

Vom Äußeren zum Inneren und vom Inneren zum Äußeren, sind zwei Methoden die Bildhauer, als dreidimensionale Künstler, zur Schaffung neuer Formen verwenden.

Meine Arbeit ist ein Produkt der mathematischen Gleichung, eine Zusammenfügung dreier plastischer Objekte, inspiriert durch die Eigenschaften des Wassers, die in drei physikalischen Formen vorzufinden sind. Ether, Flüssigkeit und feste Materie."

Die Zusammenarbeit ist eine Premiere, die Künstler haben noch nie gemeinsam ausgestellt, sie finden sich aber durchaus sympathisch.

It can only be understood as a section. Planar views capturing the dissolution of mass into gravity. Curved surfaces allowing the ascension of primary tides. […] They arrived sometimes by air, sometimes by water. Fading from blue to black, the names changed. Vocals became concrete, dispersing themselves as monuments in the landscape. Transformed into points of orientation, floating on a liquefied desert. […] The multiplicity of referents. The lack of referents. A pulsating line sinking into diaphanous substance. Inhaling the aqueous solution of continents, exhaling vaporous fragments of time.

Shore is a fictional topography of actions.

Fragmentation and dislocation.

Omissions and interruptions.

Models and simulations of an escaping original.

A migrating form recurs within the installation.

Subjected to the laws of repetition, perpetually shifting between surplus and deficit.

Heimo Zobernig and Julia Haller represent different generations of artists; however, both of them share a particular trait of painting, which is inexhaustible aesthetic automatism, used to fathom and to abstract themselves.

In Heimo Zobernig’s artworks the abstraction is based on the use of proven and long immunized idioms of the abstract color and its monochrome sovereignty, edges and mono surface. The image as "painting" exists primarily for itself. There is no sound, no narration and much less "emotional” outburst. The abstraction is the permanent experiment of aesthetics.

The work of the Vienna-based artist Heimo Zobernig is a mixture of conceptual rigor, topically relevant artistic questions and optimism on its own. It consists of various revisions of minimal and conceptual art that attempts to examine the materials and concept of authorship as well as how the size of his objects, sculptures, rooms, paintings, catalogs and videos withdraw reception. "My artistic decisions based on research, their evaluation could certainly be described as humorous," claims the artist.

In the discussion with Heimo Zobernig about painting and its aftermath we noted that the artists of our days are talking about painting in personalized manner which occurs in the use of concepts and theories. In particular, it occurs in conversations between artists and curators. On the one hand, as a part of the artistic issue and on the other hand, as a new approach to the curatorial issue... the concept of rethinking by talking. Maybe it is a new trend that could be considered as an upgrade to the term Contemporary.

The paintings of Julia Haller (former student of Heimo Zobernig) take up hardly representative field of art history. Rather, they try to convey points of curvature, the stale spot of epoxide paint and naive image, helping to perceive the signs of identification. Color is not everything. Much happens outside the act of painting. The other visual process it operates with is "thought"... It distinguishes a reverse path of complex abstraction form. There arise thoughts about what is actually "missing" or what is "adopted". In the paintings of Julia Haller, the pleasure lies in thinking and talking about the image that is supposedly painted. In her artworks, the scenic is made or approved process.

“In 2015 Julia Haller produced a new series of graphic works [at Secession in Vienna] on mineral composite boards, whose surfaces she treats by milling, applying pigments, and other techniques. The artist’s interest in creating a situation in which works of art can be perceived both as self-sufficient and as mutually complementary—in which the display is more than the sum of its parts—is accommodated by the presentation of her works in different rooms at the Secession. Subtle interventions further manipulate the visitor’s perception of the rooms in which the works are on view.” – Jeanette Pacher.
In the works of both artists we are facing this cutting complexity of the painting, the absolute trust in the emancipated image. The painting is alive and it is a part of our culture and in particular – its permanent abstraction.

Heimo Zobernig, born in Mauthen, Carinthia, Austria in 1958, lives and works in Vienna. Zobernig has had numerous solo exhibitions in venues like La Biennale di Venezia, Venice (2015); Friedrich Petzel Gallery, New York (2014); Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid (2012); the Centre Pompidou in Paris; CAPC musée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux (2009) and Tate St. Ives (2008). In 2010 Zobernig received the Austrian Frederick and Lillian Kiesler Prize for Architecture and Art in Vienna and in 2016 the Roswitha Haftmann-Preis, Zürich.

Julia Haller, born in 1978 in Frankfurt / Main, lives and works in Berlin and Vienna. The artists has presented her works at a number of galleries and museums such as Neues Museum, Nuremberg (2015); Secession, Vienna (2015); Belvedere Palace Museum, Vienna (2015); Diana Lambert, Vienna (2014); Freies Museum, Berlin (2011). In 2015 Haller received the Kardinal-König-Kunstpreis and was nominated for the Faber-Castell International Drawing Award 2015.

Sie blickt in den blauen Himmel, ihr Kopf etwas nach links geneigt, weg vom Gesicht des Partners. Angelehnt und gestützt durch ihre nach hinten verschränkten Hände. 1940 hat der Maler A. Stackl? zwei nackte Figuren, einen Mann und eine Frau, auf einer grünen Wiese in einem „Kleinbild“ gemalt in Studiemanier oder doch „Ausschnitt der Emanzipation“. Der blaue Himmel ist im Bild nach hinten gerückt. Wir befinden uns in einer Hanglage....wir haben diesen Himmel für uns alleine im Hintergrund...1940... ein biederer Traum...angesichts des tobenden Schreckens...auf der Wiese zwei klassische „Nackte“, während andere eine Spur des Unheils auf den Strassen Europas und in anderen Kontinenten ziehen...drei Birken bilden das „Altar“...die Malerei kann sich auch im banalsten Moment erheben...

Hier schläft dieselbe Nackte auf purpurnem Teppich vor einem Purpurvorhang, mit Kopf und linker Brust in vollem Licht; vorn links- und hier vielleicht zum ersten Mal? - ein zierliches Bologneser Hündchen; neben dem Vorhang eine unbestimmte Ferne mit Wanderern. Die nächste Verwandte, aber wieder lebensgroß und auf weißem Linnen, wäre dann die berühmte <<Venus von Urbino>>, die eben erst Erwache... ...die Malerei hat die Pause in der Welt geschaffen...damit wir swingen....

Please just look first. Look, then touch. It's regal. Try and use your senses, darling. Your education is (was) the best on offer: an up-to-date, politically correct amalgam of current prejudice, assumption and life choices of your surrounding culture. So if you are reading this, just remember that I am also a subject of this self-perpetuating system. Irrevocably compromised, I have accommodated myself to the regimes of thought laid down by my predecessors, and here I am, now attempting to teach you something. So look first, don't just succumb to the words, my words. We're artists after all - you know how we like to ramble on if you give us a chance. But it's not so complicated, it won't take long. I can explain it if you like. 

Bitte schaue zuerst nur. Schau, dann erst fasse an. Es ist königlich. Bemühe deine Sinne, Liebling. Deine Ausbildung ist (war) die beste, die es gibt: up-to-date, ein politisches Amalgam aus Vorurteil, Annahme und Lebensentscheidungen der Kultur, die dich umgibt. Also wenn du das liest, erinnere dich einfach daran, dass ich auch ein Teil dieses selbsterhaltenden Systems bin. Unwiderruflich kompromittiert, habe ich mich eingerichtet in dieser Gedankenwelt, die unsere Vorgänger hinterliessen, und hier bin ich jetzt, im Versuch dir etwas beizubringen. Also schau zuerst, erliege nicht einfach Worten, meinen Worten. Schliesslich sind wir Künstler - du weisst wie sehr wir aussschweifen, wenn man uns nur lässt. Irini Miga (b. 1981, Larissa, Greece) lives and works in New York. Miga’s work begins at the point where sculpture touches painterly nuances as an unfolding sketchbook of our everyday reality in physical space. Miga studied art at The Athens School of Fine Arts, Central Saint Martins College, London, and received her MFA from Columbia University, New York (2012). Recent shows include: The Equilibrists, DESTE Foundation and New Museum in collaboration with Benaki Museum, Athens (2016), Frida Smoked, Invisible Exports, New York (2016), Bibelot, Hydra School Projects, Hydra Island, Greece, Immediate Female, Judith Charles Gallery, New York (2015). She was nominated for the 2014 Rema Hort Mann Visual Arts Grant in New York, short-listed for the DESTE Prize in 2011, and received a Fulbright Award in 2010. Irini Miga is currently an Open Sessions participant at The Drawing Center, New York, for the period 2016 and 2017.

Zu Erwin Wurms grünem Veltliner

Die Sauregurkenzeit haben wir bereits hinter uns gelassen und servieren frisch Gegossene vom Limbergschen Hof. Dazu gesellen sich Sackgesichter, mit Bronze zu “bad thoughts” veredelt. Des Weiteren kredenzen wir Grüne Veltliner aus dem Hause Bründlmayer. Wir haben Mühen und Kosten gescheut, die wohl edelste Gurke der Welt zur Schau zu stellen. Selbst die titelgebende Skulptur “Grüner Veltliner" erstarrt in einem halsbrecherischen Balanceakt vor Ehrfurcht. Der Künstler ist anwesend.

Anders als mit Erwin Wurm, haben Grüner Veltliner und Liveübertragungen Alpiner Schirennen gemein, dass man sie ausschließlich in Österreich konsumiert, sie dafür aber konkurrenzlos anerkannt sind. Warum beispielsweise der österreichische Nationalrat nicht mit Schirennläufern besetzt ist und warum österreichische Schirennläufer im Nationalrat keinen grünen Veltliner trinken, ist Erwin Wurm vermutlich egal. Es soll um andere Themen gehen. Z.b. um den Neoliberalismus. Der wurde offiziell beendet. Wir haben das jedoch kaum bemerkt, ebenso wie Wurms “bad thoughts”, bemerkenswert, sich in einen Hintergrund spielen, dem die lächelnde Sonne im rechten oberen Eck fehlt.

Sie gehört zu den wirtschaftlich bedeutendsten Gemüsearten. Mit der unterschiedlichen Nutzung zusammenhängend, werden im Wesentlichen zwei Sortengruppen unterschieden: die Salatgurke (oder Schlangengurke) und die Einlege- oder Gewürzgurke.
